FAQs

Boarding

  • Give us a call and we walk you through the process! We require a deposit in the amount of the first night's stay for all reservations and may require an additional fee if boarding during major holidays.

  • All pets will be provided with blankets, bedding and water bowls. All dogs will receive a chance to go outside and relieve themselves in designated potty yards every two to three hours. Plus, they will receive lots of love and attention from our incredible staff.

You may also choose special add-ons for your pets visit including daycare (if applicable), kongs, and so much more. Call our office to learn all the ways you can make your pet's stay extra special.

  • Yes! We can administer tablets, capsules, supplements, injections, drops, and more. All medication administrations will result in a $3.00 fee for each administration. Please list all medications along with detailed instructions for use before your arrival.

  • Yes, we encourage it! We like all of our guests to stay on their normal feeding routine as they would at home! The Barkmore does offer house food at an additional $5.00 charge per meal if needed for your pet.

Daycare

  • We require all dogs to go through a temperament test before joining daycare. This test can be scheduled during business hours and includes one-on-one meet and greets with the other daycare players, introduction to the staff, basic knowledge/skills assessment, and ensuring the Barkmore is the right fit for your pup!

  • We require all puppies to be fully vaccinated with Bordetella, Influenza, Rabies, and DHPP. Most puppies will receive these yearly vaccines during 12-14 weeks of age. We require all dogs to be spayed/neutered after 6 months of age in order to participate in daycare.

  • Unfortunately not every dog enjoys the doggie daycare setting and that's ok! We want to make sure all of our daycare attendees are enjoying their time here at the Barkmore. If your dog does not pass because of behavioral issues, we will refer you to a local trainer. Safety is our top priority so we do not allow dogs with excessive jumping, biting, humping or barking issues. Your pet always has the opportunity to retake the temperament test in the future if you feel they are ready.

  • If you need extra daycare days, you can purchase a daycare day at the regular price.

  • No, we are not offering refunds or prorated refunds for partial months. Please refer to our Cancellation Policy (available in the Client Portal or by emailing info@thebarkmore.com) for more details.

  • Unused daycare days will not roll over. The easiest analogy for our memberships is to think of them in the same way you would a gym membership.

Safety and Vaccinations

  • Dogs: Bordetella, Rabies, and DHPP (Influenza 2-part series, commonly known as dog flu, is strongly recommended, but not required at this time. Please note this is subject to change depending on local veterinarian recommendations)

    Cats: FVRCP and Rabies

Please note that all vaccinations must be given 24 hours prior to check in.

We cannot accept your pet if they are not vaccinated with the above vaccines.

  • Kennel cough is a highly contagious, canine, respiratory illness that is fairly common. The Kennel Cough virus is airborne and can easily be contracted if your pet is in vicinity of an infected dog. This virus is commonly contracted in areas, such as the groomer, veterinary offices, dog parks, and dog kennels. Its incubation period is between two to fourteen days. The main symptoms are coughing, nasal discharge, and sometimes sneezing.

  • The administration of the Bordetella vaccination will help reduce the risk of infection. However, your dog may still contract the virus even if vaccinated because Kennel Cough can come in many different strains.

  • We will immediately contact you or your listed emergency contact. In the unlikely event that you cannot be reached, the Barkmore reserves the right to seek medical treatment at any veterinarian. All expenses incurred will be in the sole responsibility of the owner. If we contact you, we can use the vet of your choice but a veterinary transport fee may be applied.
